The Washington State Office of Farmers Insurance has named Erik Dyrland, Farmers Insurance agent in Bellingham, an “Unsung Hero”. Out of 650 Farmers Agents in Washington, only 13 were recognized for their efforts to help in volunteering and to take positive actions to promote their local communities.
Dyrland was nominated and chosen because of eleven years of service to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County, his support of the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life event and the leadership role he and his staff took as one of the presenting sponsors of the 2nd Annual Poker Run Against Cancer benefiting St. Joseph Cancer Center in Bellingham. Dyrland continues his support of local school programs both monetarily and through his personal efforts of coaching local youth sports teams.
Mariners Radio, KOMO Newsradio with a presentation by Hall of Fame Broadcaster Dave Niehaus honored this year’s thirteen Unsung Heroes. Niehaus presented a special Mariners Home Plate Unsung Hero Plaque to each deserving agent.
The Washington State Office of Farmers Insurance of each honored agent remarked, “Too often agents are contributing to their communities in ways that go unnoticed”.
